New College Instructor Pool Mathematics

The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences is seeking full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track Instructors in Mathematics for a hiring pool. The successful candidate may teach 10 courses per year (5-5). This position may teach in-person, online, or a hybrid schedule. Instructors are pedagogical specialists who bear the primary responsibility for their assigned courses.

In addition to these courses, the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences also teaches a number of courses designed specifically for our Applied Mathematics BS, Statistics BS and Biological Data Science MS programs. Depending upon course availability and instructor expertise, more advanced courses may be available.

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Teach courses in relevant areas.
• Prepare syllabus, appropriate course goals and objectives, and lesson plans.
• Monitor student progress and intervene when appropriate
• Evaluate and select course materials and other teaching materials.
• Prepare, administer, and grade assignments.
• Administer mid-term and/or final exams.
• Conduct regular office hours.
• Develop, maintain, and update course materials as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or higher in the Mathematics or related field at the time of hire (Instructors and Faculty Associates)

Desired Qualifications:  

• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including first-generation college students.
• Doctoral degree preferred.
• Experience in online instruction.
• Record of teaching excellence.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
