About this Opportunity

The Office of Teacher Education Services and Clinical Practice at Ball State University invites applications for the position of adjunct university supervisor. Our operation is seeking organized, collegial, student-centered, and advocacy-oriented individuals to collaborate with an outstanding team of professionals who focus on both undergraduate and graduate teacher education. This AAEE recognized office has 7 full-time staff members and 33 adjunct faculty serving graduate and undergraduate students through programs, licensure, and field experiences. Reporting directly to the director, the adjunct supervisor will champion the student teaching supervision experience as part of largest preparer of teacher educators in the State of Indiana and fifth in the nation.

Description

The University Supervisor is an adjunct faculty instructor in the Teachers College (TC) under The Office of Teacher Education Services and Clinical Practice (OTES-CP). The supervisor serves as the liaison between TC and the P-12 school where teacher candidates are placed for their student teaching experience.

The primary function of the university supervisor is to provide both onsite and digital guidance for the teacher candidate in their development of teaching competency, complete assessments which demonstrate that competency, and lend assistance to the mentor teacher.

While we are accepting all teacher licensure areas, the greatest need is in the following content majors and locations.

-Elementary Education (Muncie and Indianapolis)
-Special Education (Muncie, Indianapolis, and Fort Wayne)
-Early Childhood (Muncie, Indianapolis, and Fort Wayne)
-5-12 Licensed Administrators to supervise our graduate transition-to-teaching candidates and interested in the mentorship of multiple secondary content areas or elementary education.
-World Language Education (Muncie, Indianapolis)
-Science Education (Muncie, Indianapolis)

Minimum Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in a field of teacher education from an accredited institution by date of appointment.
-Currently hold or have held a teaching or administrative license in a relevant field.
-Experience teaching in the field in which you are licensed for at least three years in an accredited P-12 school or related administrative responsibilities in teacher education.
-Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy
-Must have the means to travel to multiple school sites within a specific area, and be able to navigate and work within the University's database and website systems.

Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree from an accredited institution.

Experience mentoring teachers in a professional, pleasant, cooperative, and collaborative manner. Experience in P-12 administration.

Required Certifications/Licensures

Currently hold or have held a teaching license in the appropriate content area.

Pre-Employment Screening

Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.
