Position Summary: The Romance Languages and Literatures Department at Bowdoin College invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible visiting assistant professor position in Hispanic Studies for the 2024-2025 academic year. The appointment is for one year and begins July 1, 2024 with the possibility of a second year dependent on curricular need and successful review and reappointment. We seek candidates to teach courses in the literature and cultures of Spain, preferably either Medieval or post-1800, that would teach at all-levels of the curriculum, including Spanish language and introduction to Hispanic Studies. Near-native fluency in both Spanish and English is required. The teaching load is normally two courses per semester. A Ph.D. in Spanish or a related field is expected by the date of appointment.
