The Web Producer and Content Strategist at the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown manages the institute's web presence, as well as all aspects of internal and external digital communications. The position reports directly to the Associate Director of Communications and Outreach. This is a vital role for Annenberg in executing the communications strategy via the development of high-quality content with a specific focus on its digital platforms, including social media, newsletters, and Annenberg's website.

Responsibilities:

The Web Producer and Content Strategist manages website content and user experience for the institute, as well as social media engagement and content across digital platforms. This includes overseeing maintenance and administration of Annenberg's web presence and serving as the primary content producer for all social media accounts, newsletters and digital signage. The role is responsible for publicizing Annenberg news, events, and activities across various channels to internal and external stakeholders. This includes creating digital materials for seminars, conferences, programs, workshops, and other events.

This is a fixed term position with the possibility of renewal annually. This position is contingent on funding.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with content management systems such as Drupal, and proficiency with website and social media planning, developing, and maintaining.
  • Formal training in web design, content strategy or information architecture is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of tools and practices for measuring success of engagement efforts; demonstrated experience with metrics such as Google Analytics.
  • Proficiency with basic image manipulation and graphic design experience with Adobe Photoshop or Canva.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Instagram, Twitter (X), Facebook and other social media platforms for higher education, nonprofit, political or related setting.
Job Competencies
  • Experience with Canva, MailChimp, Hootsuite, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience with web content management systems.
  • Proficiency with Google Drive, MS Office and web navigation.
  • Strong web and digital writing skills, including editing and organizing content, and reworking and repurposing content.
  • Effectively plans and prioritizes when faced with competing deadlines: remains flexible, takes initiative, and follows through on strategies and tactics.
  • Able to sustain a project from inception to completion, with the ability to manage details and input from multiple stakeholders
  • Understanding of web best practices/standards and the key elements of content strategy including web writing, editorial oversight, SEO and information architecture.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards, including WCAG and Section 508.
  • Strong sense of ownership and attention to detail: notices and fixes errors that others might overlook. Acknowledges mistakes and turns them into learning opportunities. Has a track record of leaving things better than they found them.
  • Shows initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and accessibly to a variety of stakeholders through writing and visual design.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
  • Manages a high volume of work with efficiency: Has, or can create, a system for keeping tasks from slipping through the cracks. Able to juggle competing demands and prioritize without sacrificing quality. Plans ahead to make deadlines. Asks for help when needed.
