MH Nurse, RN/LPN, MH Residential Specialist
RACSB is recruiting for the following positions for our Crisis Stabilization program at Sunshine Lady House:
• MH Nurse, RN/LPN (Part-Time/PRN)
Complete nursing assessment for admission into the program.
Obtain physician orders, order medications, collaborate with pharmacy, and transcribe orders.
Administer medications as ordered and monitor outcomes.
Conduct routine examinations daily. Assess blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
Complete nursing assessments and medically related assessments ordered by the prescriber.
Facilitate psycho-educational and wellness groups for clients. Educate individuals, family members, and caregivers about mental health and medical conditions, preventive health measures, medications, and treatment plans while they participate in the Crisis Stabilization Program.
Oversee and monitor unit operations in the absence of the Nursing Supervisor in collaboration with on-call medical and clinical staff.
Perform urine drug screens, administer and interpret TB tests, monitor and track lab results.
Maintain thorough documentation of daily activities including nursing and treatment services.
Document medical and psychological histories, physical assessment results, diagnoses, treatment plans and outcomes.
Coordinate, procedures and ensure appropriate level of nursing services to clients to include monitoring, administration, documentation, and other nursing services.
Respond to medical emergency situations and call emergency medical services for consumers and staff when warranted.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members: psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioner, and program coordinator.
Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.
Enter data into electronic health records and research client information.
Refer clients to resources in the community for dental clinics, health clinics, primary care physicians, Quit Now Virginia services, etc.
Order, inventory and secure pharmaceuticals for use by program participants.
Provides for adequate first aid supplies and materials at the Crisis Stabilization Program.
Maintain ongoing and current competencies requirements for licensure.
Attend trainings, meetings and seminars as required.
Regular and predictable attendance required.
• MH Nurse, RN/LPN (Full-Time)
Thorough knowledge of the principals, standards, practices and techniques of professional nursing.
Thorough knowledge related to the management of medical detoxification and the management of the individual with mental illness in crisis.
Thorough knowledge of the dangers inherent in and the precautions to be taken in the use of all medications.
Thorough knowledge of the treatment, diagnostic, immunization, and related medical services for psychiatrically medically ill patients.
Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to nursing services.
Ability to accurately maintain client medical records and prepare reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, directors, medical personnel, community partners, vendors, associates and the general public.
Valid Virginia Nursing license (RN/LPN).
Valid Virginia Driver's License.
• MH Residential Specialist (part-time and full-time)
Bachelor's Degree in the Behavioral Sciences and considerable work experience in counseling the mentally ill, emotionally disturbed and substance abusive populations including crisis intervention. Approved Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP). Valid Virginia Driver's License with acceptable driving record required.
Considerable knowledge of group and individual counseling principles, practices and techniques including crisis intervention and stabilization methods, considerable knowledge of the medical providers, social services and other agencies and community organizations providing services to the individual population; considerable knowledge of individual management guidelines for Virginia; considerable knowledge of the operation of electronic medical records and associated documentation; ability to establish and maintain rapport with the individual population; ability to conduct effective interviews, observe, assess and record individual behaviors and functioning; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff of other private and public agencies and organizations; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to operate a vehicle; ability to function calmly in stressful situations; ability to prepare and maintain detailed records and prepare related reports.
