Coppin State University, a fully accredited institution, and a member of the University System of Maryland, is accepting applications to fill an Associate Professor tenure-track position of English with a background in Journalism, in the Department of Humanities within the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education ( CASE). Coppin is an urban residential Historically Black College and University ( HBCU) serving nearly 3,000 students enrolled in day, evening, weekend, and online courses. The candidate would teach English Composition I and II, Creative Writing, Poetry, or fiction, Communication Studies, Digital Media Creation, Editing and Journalism courses. The candidate should have some records of published works.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching English Composition I and II, Creative Writing, Poetry or Fiction, Communication Studies, Digital media creation Editing, and Journalism courses.
- Holding conferences with students and keeping office hours.
- Involved with student advisement.
- Engage in Departmental and University activities.
- Engage in recruiting for English majors.
EDUCATION:
- Doctorate degree required, significant graduate course work or terminal degree in Humanities-related discipline.
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience.
- Ability to use different teaching modalities, face to face and Online teaching.
- Demonstrate evidence of working with diverse populations of students in urban environments.
- Work with students one-on-one to give additional help.
- Ability to work collaboratively on university-wide committees.
- Motivate and engage students in class.
