Job Summary/Basic Functions
The School of Arts and Design in the Institute for Creative and Collaborative Arts at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for the Academic year 2024-2025.
Applicants should hold an earned MFA or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. The position begins August 2024.
The position serves the BFA and BS in Art majors. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the theories and fundamentals of Ceramics and possess a strong working knowledge of traditional and contemporary methods and techniques, varied kiln operations, glaze formulation and production, and studio maintenance and management.
ICCA seeks candidates who will participate in a collaborative community that fosters independent thought and creativity, embraces the diversity of cultural expression, and cultivates excellence in the making and understanding of the Arts.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in a 4/4 annual teaching load, develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, conduct academic advising, and participate in service to the department, university, and community. In addition, membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international communication organizations is recommended.

- Maintain a 4/4 teaching load, teaching courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of EKU students
- Teach courses in both their areas of expertise and courses that meet the needs of the School of Art and Design's degree programs and EKU's General Education curriculum.
- Utilize effective teaching methods, innovative teaching techniques, and teaching modalities, and multiple evaluation and assessment procedures as a means to help meet the needs of EKU students
- Demonstrate the ability to teach, develop, and implement courses related to one's curricular area
- Develop and maintain an active research agenda
- Keep up to date with one's field and curricular areas by reading and reviewing current scholarly or creative works and by attending conferences, seminars, workshops, courses, and faculty development activities
- Advise students, fulfill program, departmental, college, and university committee assignments
- Demonstrate the willingness and ability to work effectively with colleagues to support the mission of EKU, its academic units, and its campus community
- Demonstrate respect for and support EKU's diverse campus community and student population
