The Global Business Alliance (GBA) is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated professional with at least eight years' worth of business development experience to lead its membership retention, engagement and recruitment efforts. The VP of Membership is responsible for fostering an impeccable membership experience and welcoming new members into the organization.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the VP of Membership will oversee GBA's membership retention, recruitment, onboarding, outreach and engagement efforts. Responsibilities include management of the Membership Excellence team and its respective communications, outreach, billing, marketing and programming functions. The VP will also collaborate with the Advocacy and Events & Programs Teams to ensure a best-in-class membership experience.

A successful candidate will have a strong interest and background in business association operations, lead generation, senior corporate executive engagement, and general policy issues impacting global businesses. This candidate should be a strategic thinker with excellent analytical and writing skills, and capable of anticipating project needs and meeting deadlines with flawless work products in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the benchmark 95 percent membership retention rate annually
  • Cultivate and support meaningful membership relationships, including growing connections within each member company (specifically senior executives within Government Affairs, Tax, CFO & CEO roles) and increase overall member satisfaction
  • Implement a top-quality prospecting strategy for new members and ensure a seamless onboarding process
  • Manage membership invoicing, renewal cycle & related activities
  • Work with the Advocacy Team to create collateral detailing membership benefits
  • Carefully curate content and create timely programming opportunities to bolster GBA's reach with prospective members
  • Represent GBA at member events, stakeholder receptions, conference calls and regional gatherings
  • Educate members on GBA's value proposition and promote opportunities for members to maximize their membership value
  • Develop and drive benefits awareness campaigns & webinars, regional in-person meetings, and other mediums/formats
  • Other duties as required

Benefits:

This position has a base compensation range of $120,000 - $150,000, with additional performance-based incentives. GBA currently operates with a hybrid telecommuting and in-person work model with a two to three in-person requirement per week.

Qualifications Include:

The successful candidate should be a seasoned corporate or association membership executive with demonstrable success in sales, member retention and recruitment.

  • Able to work independently, within a team successfully and lead a team
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in business, marketing, communications, public policy or related field preferred or commensurate experience
  • Eight to 15+ years of related experience working in a member or client-facing capacity
  • Experience working within an association or consulting experience preferred
  • Additional experience in sales, marketing, communications and analytics experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve fiscal goals and objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence decision making
  • Extensive knowledge of corporate membership organizations and how to drive engagement
  • Well-developed organizational, communications, negotiation, writing and listening skills
  • Ability to anticipate areas in need of research and an understanding of how to turn data into action
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated, high degree of initiative
  • Ability to travel (<20 percent) within and outside of the United States
