The Assistant Coach provides leadership and direction to all facets of the program in advancing the mission of the University and Department of Athletics. Specific areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to) sport specific coaching, recruitment, Student-Athlete development (including academic support), program administration and program advancement yielding agreed upon results. All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of the University, the Athletics Department, The Patriot League and the NCAA. This position is a Grade: 9-40 with an approximate salary range of $54,390-$66,190 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications

2. Coaching

• Assist in planning (practices, training sessions, Team and individual conditioning, lineups, and competitive strategies.
• Instructing/demonstrating (techniques, skills).
• Assist in evaluating/assessing, effectiveness and results.

• Communicating with Athletes and Team.

3. Recruiting

• Assist in identifying and attracting prospects.
• Assist in evaluating prospects (athletically, commitment, character, etc.) through high school visits, at competitions and/or home visits.
• Assist in selecting prospective Candidates.
• Promoting Lehigh through communicating with prospects and families.
• Assist in coordinating recruitment strategies, calendar and procedures.
• Assist in yielding Student Prospects.
• Valuing diversity in the process and results.

4. Program administration

• Assist in planning and evaluating Program results, status, and priorities.
• Assist in preparing and managing annual Program budgets.
• Assist in supervising, managing, and evaluating personnel (including sensitivity to diversity).
• Assist in evaluating Prospective Members of the Coaching Staff.
• Assist in scheduling competitions and/or planning tournaments in coordination with appropriate administrator.
• Complying with NCAA, League and Institutional rules.
• Attending Staff and University meetings.
• Responding to administrative and supervisory requests.
• Utilizing technology to achieve efficiencies and productivity.
• Assist in proofing recruit or other media information.

5. Advancement

• Assist in promoting strong public and media relations.
• Assist in promoting strong Alumni relations (newsletters, fundraising support, and/or Alumni games/gatherings.
• Assist in promoting strong parent relations.
• Assist in promoting strong community relations.
• Assist in promoting strong professional relations.
• Aspire to develop professionally.
• Assist in fulfilling a commitment to service (Departmental, Institutional, And Professional).

6. Results

• Assist in achieving competitive success within the Conference (and sometimes beyond).
• Assist in achieving academic success across the Team.

The duties of the position do not allow for a remote work option; the employee in this position will be required to work on campus where they can be fully accessible to the Lehigh community

Variable Shifts/Schedule

Often work nights and weekends

This position is responsible for driving University-owned vehicles as a routine function, therefore a valid Driver's License and a good driving record is required

This position works with minors

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience; Master's Degree preferred

One to three years related work experience

A degree and experience as a student-athlete

NCAA Certification required

CPR/First Aid required

Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
