Job Description:
North Orange County Community College District is now accepting applications for a Parenting Adjunct Instructor to teach at our North Orange Continuing Education campus in Anaheim, Wilshire, and/or Cypress. Adjunct faculty are hired on a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the school and student demand.

The instructor is responsible for providing meaningful quality instruction to students that meet the program and course objectives. Parenting faculty teach a variety of courses, this includes, but is not limited to 1) parent courses taken with children focused on developmental movement, child development, and parenting skills; and 2) parenting courses for adults only, focused on building healthy relationships, emotional regulation, mindful parenting, and understanding child behaviors.


Primary Purpose:
Duties and responsibilities as presented are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.

The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. If degree award date is not posted on transcript your application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education, human development, family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development or early childhood education, educational psychology with a specialization in child development, elementary education, psychology, or family life studies; and two years of professional experience in early childhood programs or parenting education.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience teaching adult students and children from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.

A working knowledge of, and experience with, student learning outcomes and assessment.

Demonstrated success in helping students from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized groups, nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with learning disabilities.

Special Instructions Summary:
This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified.

This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
