Senior Manager, Conferences and Events
NEI is seeking an experienced, skilled, motivated, and results-driven Senior Manager to lead our Conferences and Events Department of 4 staff in managing 40-50 events annually. The purpose of this position is to provide overall management and strategy for the NEI Conferences and Events Department in the planning and implementing of both NEI's domestic and international conferences, seminars, workshops and other special events pertinent to the NEI mission. The Senior Manager for this team needs to have a high level of competency in strategic planning and execution of the department's mission with demonstrated skills in personnel management and coaching, budget management, and contract negotiation. Excellent oral and written skills, negotiation skills, and leadership skills are required.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
* Oversight of day-to-day progress of programs, promotions and events
* Managing comprehensive conference branding program (conference webpage, printed materials, marketing email templates)
* Working with Member Relations to ensure that both departments' strategic plans include communication and marketing that align with organization's goals
* Promote effective communication with other departments to ensure all project timelines are met
* Conference Management including contract negotiation, pre-event interactions with hotel, providing onsite hotel meeting leadership and direction to all levels of hotel staff, and supervision of onsite NEI support staff and hired local support staff
* Financial and Vendor Management including the development and maintenance of budgets for each meeting/event, reconciliation of all revenue and expenses, developing cost-effective travel logistics for each meeting with written details on airport and airline availability, including cost estimates for attendee travel expenses
* Marketing Development and Implementation including providing oversight to the department's development and management of effective promotion of events through creative marketing
* Vendor Negotiation and Management where vendors are researched and contracts are negotiated to provide outstanding services to support NEI's events
* Member Advocacy that will ensure NEI events promote relationships and networking among attendees. Working closely with members to provide them with avenues to interact and network to their satisfaction
Qualifications:
* Minimum of ten years of Conference Management experience including the ability to develop and lead teams, manage budgets and all financial aspects of conferences and events, and a firm knowledge of hotel contract negotiations, financial and marketing background
* Individual and professional maturity
* Ability to work individually and with a team
* Proficient in Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel), CMS, mass mailing software; and knowledge of conference registration tools
Education:
* College degree preferred
* CMP designation preferred
