Position Summary: The Accounting Manager is responsible for general ledger management, month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, financial statement preparation, and budgeting and forecasting while ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The position requires interaction with key internal stakeholders including human resources, technical teams, project management, and the leadership team as well as external stakeholders including accountants and various vendors.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Manage the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting. Reconcile general ledger accounts with all subsidiary ledger accounts (i.e. payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable). Reconcile all bank accounts, note schedules, prepaid expenses, fixed asset depreciation and Work-In-Process (WIP) with general ledger balances.
Review, process and reconcile credit card expense reports and receipts submitted by cardholders. Develop and issue timely, accurate and relevant monthly, quarterly and year-end reports as required. Proactively analyze financial information, provide reports with key insights to management, and make recommendations that will result in improving the company’s fiscal fitness. Support the company’s financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting process including performing financial modeling for various projects and initiatives.
Work with Project Managers and Discipline Directors to support proposal development and project management activities. Manage accounts payable. Partner with external accountants to prepare audited financial and indirect rate statements, file company annual tax returns. Monitor indirect rates on a monthly basis and lead annual indirect rate audit. Maintain financial security by ensuring compliance with internal controls and ensuring that financial information is secure. Evaluate and improve accounting processes, ensure that practices comply with organization accounting policies, applicable laws and regulations. Maintain an accounting calendar to ensure that key deadlines are met, including property tax filings, cyclical tax payments, ERISA filing, etc. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations. Assist with other projects and duties, as assigned.
Education, Experience and Knowledge: Minimum of 7-10 years of accounting experience. B.S. degree in Accounting, CPA preferred. Excellent analytical skills and ability to resolve complex accounting and business problems. Experience with and strong working knowledge of Deltek Vision, Vantagepoint or Costpoint. Advanced proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel). Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Must be a strong team player, highly motivated and able to work under pressure during peak periods. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders.
Working Conditions: Primary duties are performed indoors.
