Applications Developer, College of the Liberal Arts

The IT organization in the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State is seeking an Applications Developer to develop full-stack, secure web applications with the .NET and Blazor frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop secure and accessible enterprise applications using .NET best practices
  • Investigate and resolve stakeholder incidents and requests with application enhancement
  • Implement feature enhancements or security updates to existing applications
  • Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and identify best-fit solutions
  • Use modern development best practices to help ensure systems meet security and accessibility requirements
  • Contribute to system architecture and DevOps planning through documenting development practices, tools, and system designs for operation continuity
  • Create, update, and manage application databases while ensuring data integrity or creating Ad Hoc database queries for stakeholders
  • Test, debug, and document developed application resources

Education and Experience:
This position will be filled at the level of Intermediate Professional or Advanced Professional, depending on the final applicant's experience and education. The Intermediate Professional level requires a minimum of an Associate Degree and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.

Additional qualifications include:
  • Experience with front-end web application development tools
  • Experience with server-based application development languages
  • Understanding of database development tools (Transactional SQL, focusing on Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Understanding of modern web authentication and security
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
