Position requires evening, weekend, overnight and holiday availability.
Locations available in Culpeper, VA; Warrenton, VA and Remington, VA.
Essential Duties:

The Direct Support Professional is a team member who provides support to people who live in a community group home setting.
Ideal candidate:
•Has a passion for working with adults with developmental disabilities in providing support, guidance, and opportunities for people to learn new skills.
•Possesses creative teaching methods when providing opportunities for people to gain and strengthen skills.
•Willingness to share interests, hobbies, and community networks, as a way to expand horizons for the people receiving services.
•Remains vigilant in ensuring optimal health and safety and that all documentation reflects supports provided.
•Knowledgeable in providing supports and skill building opportunities in life areas such as: community living, health, relationships, coping skills, medication administration, personal care, home cleanliness, safety, budgeting, and crisis intervention.
•Familiar with Home and Community Based regulations & Human Rights regulations.
Schedules include, day time, weekends, overnights, and holidays, call out coverage, or any combination of these shifts.
•High School diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience providing direct care to individuals with mental illness, intellectual disability, or receiving gerontology or special education services;
•Or Associate's degree in Human Services;
•Or Bachelor's degree with major course work in human services, or related field.
•CNA preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
•MS Word.
•Ability to use Electronic Health Record to record extensive and detailed documentation.
•General knowledge of basic personal health care and home management
•Ability to work with intellectually disabled, elderly, and other special population clients from all socio-economic backgrounds.
Special Requirements:
•Valid Virginia driver's license with acceptable record.
•Attends training and maintains certifications as required.
•Ability to regularly lift lightweight materials, and occasionally lift heavy materials (over 60 pounds)
•Worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialist personal protective equipment
Salary is $15.11 hourly; 29,464.50 Annually.
