JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
To perform assigned service maintenance on HVAC equipment.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Service Manager.
The following positions report to this position: None.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Required: High School Education or equivalent.
Preferred: Two Year degree from an accredited college or, trade school with a minimum two years electronic training.
Experience:
One year Basic mechanical trade experience.
Licensing/Registration/Certification
Required: Valid Drivers License, EPA certification.
Preferred: Current Apprenticeship “in training” Card Holder, or Va.state license as a Journeyman or Master Mechanic in HVAC Trade.
Skill/Knowledge/Abilities:
Required: Must have skills in knowledge of preventative maintenance of HVAC systems.
Physical:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 75 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 100pounds. The employee must be able to erect a 28’ extension ladder without any assistance. Must be able to work in high locations and confined areas.
Mental:
Mathematics: Must be able to do routine arithmetic calculations.
Language:
Must be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English to prepare, write, and read reports. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mechanical:
Basic knowledge of electric and refrigeration and air distribution systems.

Working Conditions
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and must be physically able to work in precarious places such as tight attics, crawl spaces, above drop ceilings, utility rooms, mechanical areas and other tight areas as well as high places. The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
Essential Functions:
- Performs maintenance of equipment and make recommendations regarding replacement of equipment or parts with quality, and customer safety and satisfaction being the number one goal
- Markets and sells companies equipment, products, services and accessories.
- Inspects, cleans, maintains, re-assembles and tests HVAC equipment, parts and accessories in accordance with company ESA Programs.
- Complete basic dealer and manufacturer training on specified systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) procedures and repair techniques in accordance with company standards.
- Return warranty parts and completed required paper work in warranty and return to person responsible for warranty administration.
- Strives for 100% call completion rate, working late as required to complete assigned task. Checks availability and or order parts needed prior to leaving job site. Exhausts all avenues before delaying call.
- Communicates with dispatcher in advance if job will require additional assistance by apprentice. Gives dispatcher five minute notice prior to completion of call. Communicates with dispatcher if assigned call will take longer than 11/4 hrs to complete
- Completes assigned calls and type of call from dispatcher without question. No technician is considered above any job necessary to get the job done to achieve 100% customer satisfaction.
- Restocks truck on a daily basis according to company procedures and company handbook. Fills out accurate lead sheets and immediately communicates to leads coordinator. Turns lead sheet in to Contract time ticket box at the end of the work day.
- Installs plenum and/or thermostat service stickers on all equipment serviced.
- Provides customer with legible, completed work order report according to service procedures.
- Solicits reviews after completion of tune- up
Essential FUNCTIONS (cont.):
- Verifies that all paper work including time tickets, packing slips from vendors, warranty return part documentation, are accurate and properly filled out. Work orders must have workorder #, ESA#, customer name, address, complaint, date, quantities, correct repair phase, correct part number and description, prices extended, hours worked, description of work performed and recommended repairs needed with written quote. This is to be turned in on a daily basis at the end of your work day.
