Physical Requirements

This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.

Shift

Primarily Monday – Friday; 7:30am – 4:00pm; some weekend and holiday requirement per department need.

Job Summary

Oversee the distribution of all investigational drugs in accordance with UK HealthCare policy, FDA regulations, and other applicable guidelines. Ensure proper investigational drug dispensing including but not limited to: Investigational drug control, investigational drug labeling, disposition of unused supply of investigational drug, monitoring of equipment (refrigerator, freezer, super-cold freezer temperatures), cold chain management, response and recovery plan. Developing and implementing procedures for the proper control and drugs in a wide variety of practice environments (e.g., emergency department, operating rooms, intensive care units, inpatient units, ambulatory care clinics for adults and pediatrics, etc.) and disciplines (e.g., hematology/oncology, cardiology, transplant, infectious diseases, etc.) These procedures include receipt, storage, medication labeling and dispensing, drug inventory management, destruction and other distribution and control functions. Review and maintenance of investigator recordkeeping, drug disposition records, inventory logs, patient dispensing logs, preparation/compounding instructions, door-to-door chain-of-custody, retention procedure, state board of pharmacy requirements, institutional regulations, Continuous Quality Improvement ( CQI) procedures. Support investigational drug research and assist investigators with training for all staff who will be administering investigational drugs and preparing informational monographs. Drug quality oversight for Drug Quality Study.

The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum salary for this position will now be $104,697/year. All pay rates will be based on candidate's experience.

PharmD and ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
