DESCRIPTION

The Herbert College of Agriculture at the University of Tennessee seeks a dynamic individual to create digital and physical communications media to enhance student recruitment and success. The College has over 1600 undergraduate students enrolled in 11 majors across seven departments, and over 350 graduate students enrolled across eight departments. A successful applicant will enhance the College’s communications abilities to students and the public.

Qualifications :

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and create graphic designs for college and departmental print and digital publications. Supply design ideas, layouts, illustrations and/or photography to support marketing materials. Provide input on materials for the final product of the print publications. Prepares computer layout of projects and executes production of the same. Prepare images for digital usage, including scanning and digital manipulation of images. Determine and prepare graphics specifications in accordance with budgetary limitations. Collaborate with Communications and Employer Relations Coordinator on strategy and implementation to ensure brand consistency and to achieve identified goals.
  • Provide photography and videography services at events for use in college branding, marketing, recruiting, and related activities. Edit photos to ensure quality when used across various marketing platforms. Create and edit videos to promote the college across various marketing platforms. Develop and co-manage photo/video repository with Communications and Employer Relations Coordinator. Develop cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality for use by college staff and faculty, and provide training as needed. Collaborate with Communications and Employer Relations Coordinator, along with other campus units and faculty to provide best-in-class photos and videos to achieve college and departmental goals.
  • Co-manage all Herbert social media accounts with Communications and Employer Relations Coordinator. Track and report on usage/metrics to determine the success of certain posts across different platforms. Implement new social media ideas based on said data. Stay up-to-date on social media trends and rules at the university, state, and federal level. Strategize with Communications and Employer Relations Coordinator on social media campaigns throughout the year. Collaborate with Communications and Employer Relations Coordinator to engage students, faculty, alumni, and employers across various social media platforms. Build social media presence on main campus by collaborating with other colleges and departments.
Qualifications

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in visual communications, graphic design, journalism, marketing communications or similar field plus two years of experience in graphic design, photography, videography, social media, creative communications, and/or public relations settings.
Preferences
  • A master's degree in visual communications, graphic design, journalism, marketing communications or a similar field plus two years of experience in graphic design, photography, videography, social media, creative communications, and/or public relations settings. Experience leading multimedia communications at an institution of higher education, government agency, or company.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Skilled in excellent verbal and written communication
  • Skilled in the use of graphic design software, like most if not all Adobe applications (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Skilled in the use of cameras and video hardware/software
  • Skilled in the use of multiple social media platforms
  • Ability to learn new software and technology use for communications
  • Ability to work with faculty, staff, and students to maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures
  • Ability to stay up-to-date on social media trends/rules
  • Ability to apply cutting-edge technologies for image and video production
  • Ability to integrate and effectively relay information to stakeholders, colleagues, and administration
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and originality in design, photography, and videography while effectively communicating the college brand
  • Ability to determine use-cases for social media platforms depending on needs and opportunities
  • Ability to elevate diverse populations through design, imagery, and video
