Position Summary: The Injury and Violence Prevention Program (IVPP) seeks a Training and Technical Assistance Associate. This employee will be responsible for developing and delivering training related to programmatic needs, providing training and technical assistance to hospital systems and/or community organizations, determining subject matter for technical assistance materials development, and overseeing the development and dissemination of high- quality technical assistance materials and tools. This position reports to the Associate Director of IVPP.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Design, create, schedule and deliver training, both in person and online for Injury & Violence Prevention programs
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders and liaise with subject matter experts regarding instructional design
  • Design and prepare programmatic aids and materials such as assessment tools, informational brochures, policies and procedures, and marketing materials
  • Handle project documentation, design and prepare educational aids and materials, create and update hospital-based databases, and assist with project reporting
  • Travel to receiving sites and conduct quarter site visits.
Minimum HiringStandards:.
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Social Work, or other related field and 3-5 years of experience in a similar field
  • Prior experience coordinating the design, delivery, and evaluation of training and technical assistance
  • Must demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time
  • Prior experience developing and delivering distance-based instruction, including web courses, webinars, and teleconferences on hospital-based violence intervention and prevention strategies
  • Extensive knowledge of community-based resources that address social determinates of health
  • Demonstrated experience of scholarly writing and national and state presentations in the area of violence intervention and prevention
  • Must be able and willing to travel locally and nationally for ~25% of work
  • May be required to work an occasional weekend, evening, and holiday
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Public Health, human services or other related field
  • Experience working in hospital/healthcare setting
