Director of Institutional Giving
Execute qualifying discussions to define philanthropic aspirations of suspects identified by Prospect Discovery and Strategy with the capacity of $50,000+.
Plan, schedule, and complete frequent travel in the assigned geographic region, including overnight, to contact prospects and donors in completion of portfolio/pipeline management. Extensive travel in assigned region, with the potential for some national travel.
Collaborate with Foundation and University Units leadership and development officers to develop strategies to link donor interest with University priorities.
Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of the University and its units, including mission, history, and current fundraising priorities assuring effective representation of all opportunities and priorities for private support.
Build and manage a network of relationships with prospective donors involving University and College leadership, faculty, and volunteers. Facilitate and coordinate all communication with these prospects and among the prospect’s campus relationships.
Coordinating with Prospect Development and Strategy, suggest strategy meetings on multi-interest prospects with colleagues to keep gift discussions moving forward in a donor-centric fashion.
Coordinate with Donor Relations and appropriate development officers to develop and execute personalized stewardship plans for select donors and prospects.
Comply with all WVU Foundation reporting and accountability standards and coordinate development efforts with University Units development staff as needed.
Complete additional assignments as may be required by the supervisor or other Foundation senior management as appropriate.

Education and/or Experience
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree. A minimum of 3 years of direct and progressively responsible experience in major gift fundraising or other employment involving similar direct client engagement is required.

Computer Skills
Proficiency in computer and internet usage is necessary. The ability to accurately enter data into a database and recall information through reports is necessary.
Physical Demands
Air travel may be required. A valid driver’s license is required.
