Airport Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician during the Winter and County-Wide Weed Sprayer during the Summer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Airport Building and Grounds Maintenance Technician
- Operates and performs preventative maintenance on snow removal and heavy equipment.
- Maintains airport structures and facilities including administrative offices, hangers, and terminal buildings.
- Performs minor electrical work including changing light bulbs as required.
- Performs minor heating ventilation and air conditioner work to ensure proper operation of units.
- Performs minor plumbing work, including troubleshooting sinks and toilets as required.
- Performs minor interior and exterior carpentry, replacement and new construction work to include framing, drywall and trim.
- Completes general repair work around terminal building, including wall, ceiling, floor and roof repairs.
- Strong customer service/customer interaction capability.
- Ability to apply airport safety and security regulations desirable.
- Some heavy equipment operating skills.
Weed Sprayer
- Identifies and manages noxious weeds on County or other lands.
- Performs regular maintenance on spray equipment.
- Fills out daily logs.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
- High school diploma or GED, plus one year of facilities maintenance or construction experience. Diploma may be waived with an additional 3-5 years of airport experience.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in a biology, agriculture or natural resource discipline is preferred for the weed sprayer job duties.
- A combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities, required for the job as weed sprayer is acceptable.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Airport Building and Grounds Maintenance Technician: Valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred in order to operate heavy equipment and County vehicles. Must be able to successfully complete a Federal Security Background Check to comply with TSA SIDA badging requirements.
Weed Sprayer: Commercial Pesticide Applicators/Qualified Supervisors License preferred or must be able to obtain license within one year of hire. At a minimum a Certified Operators License must be obtained within four months of Hire.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work is performed mostly outdoors for at least six months a year. Employee may be exposed to all types of weather conditions and pesticides. Employee must be able to lift heavy supplies, parts and tools. Employee should have a good working knowledge of the function and maintenance of spray equipment.
